Our tape-in system adds length in less than 60 min and volume in under 30 minutes. The application consists of taking sections of your hair and comfortably “sandwiching” them between 2 panels. Maintenance and Care

Maintenance

Every 6-8 weeks, as your natural hair grows, your extensions will need to be moved up and re-colored to match your hair. Every 7-10 months, the extensions need to be replaced. While the hair is 100% human hair, it’s not receiving nourishment from your scalp, and therefore will begin to show some wear and tear.

Hair extensions can be a great way to add length, volume, and style to your hair. However, they also require proper maintenance and care to keep them looking their best. Here are some tips for maintaining and caring for your hair extensions:

  1. Brush your extensions regularly: Use a soft-bristled brush to gently brush your extensions at least once a day. This will help prevent tangles and keep the hair looking smooth and shiny.
  2. Carefully wash your extensions 1-3 times a week: When washing your extensions, use a salon-quality sulfate-free shampoo & conditioner that is designed for use with extensions. When shampooing try to not scrub the ends of the extensions as it will dry them out, instead focus on shampooing the root area! Be gentle when washing and rinsing the hair, and avoid scrubbing or twisting the hair to prevent tangling.
  3. When conditioning, place the conditioner from the jaw down and avoid getting any conditioner on the root as it will cause the extensions to slip.
  4. Avoid heat styling every day / avoid heat styling over 350 degrees
  5. Protect your extensions while sleeping:
    • Pull back hair into a braid (preferable) or into a low pony to sleep.
    • Sleep on a silk pillowcase and
    • Don’t sleep with wet hair.
  6. If you’re planning on swimming with your hair extensions we recommend putting a generous amount of one of our hair masks on your extensions prior and tying your hair into a tight braid. Doing so will help your hair extensions, not tangle and stay hydrated. Illusions Color Spa doesn’t recommend swimming with your hair extensions in on a regular basis as this will drastically shorten the lifespan of your hair extensions.
